Dog Advice: If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

Like many of us, I'm loving spending these warmer June days walking my dog. It strikes me that there is so much to be gained by getting out in nature, taking time to ponder and just enjoy the simple relationship that having a beloved pet can give us. That pure unconditional love is so rare and there is much to learn from them about the simple pleasures of life.

The following wise words are not mine but the dog in the photo is!

Remember, if a dog were a teacher, you would learn the following:

• When your loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

• Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

• Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

• Take naps.

• Stretch before rising.

• Run, romp, and play daily.

• Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

• Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

• On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

• On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

• When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

• Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

• Be faithful.

• Never pretend to be something you’re not.

• If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

• When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

If you find you are struggling to truly enjoy the simple pleasures of life, you might benefit from some Cognitive Hypnotherapy which can help identify what is holding you back and change those limiting beliefs that keep you from feeling your best.
